Doctors/Nurses sounding: “Please move aside, please move aside!”

Guo Tang: “How is he doctor? How is he? He was in an accident before, he broke his leg bone severely. This time he wouldn’t have hurt his leg again, could he?”
Doctor: “Sir, pease relax, are you the patient’s family?”
Gou Tang: “Y-yes, I am. Where is he hurt? Is it severe?”
“Oh the patient isn’t in detrimental state, just a couple scrapes, though he did hit his head quite badly. He is unconscious right now. To know the full extent of his injuries we’ll need to wait for him to awaken and examine then.”
Gou Tang: “Oh thank you.”

GT: “You’re awake!”
XZH: “Y-you are…Guo Tang, How come you’re here? … Where exactly am I right now?”
Guo Tang: “Wait, don’t recklessly move. You were in an accident do you remember? Three days ago you came back from out of town. You were rear ended at high speed and got into an accident with several cars. You suffered a head injury and have been unconscious for three days. Can you not remember?”
XZH: “Car accident? I clearly remember yesterday was my 22nd birthday. I hosted a party on a yaht. How could I be in an accident…what about Jiang Mue?”
Guo Tang: “Jiang Mue? You and him have long since…Mr Xi, please don’t joke with me. Today is already 2028, you’re already 27 years old.
XZH: “What…Jiang Mue…I want to see him. Is this one of Feng An and his posse’s pranks? Making me get wasted and moving me to this place…where is this place? Mo Family’s Multiple chained hotels? Or one of the big filming production sites?”
Guo Tang: “Don’t get anxious, your wounds haven’t healed yet, I’ll call the doctor for you. Just lie down first.” *calls doctor, they rush in* “Doctor please examine him.” (whispers) “His memories I think has gotten mixed up…” *receives text message*
Guo Tang: “Thank you doctor, I’ll step out first to answer a message.”
Guo Tang’s sister’s text: “The lab test results have met expectations, your sister is feeling happy today! Let’s have dinner together! You pick the address.”
Guo Tang: “Then let’s go to that French restaurant that is not far from your lab and eat steaks!”
*finishes texting sister, starts texting Li Jie, who is XZH’s agent* Better text Li Jie, and tell her that XZH has awoken already.
*Doctor steps out* “Doctor, how is Mr Xi? He seems a little…abnormal?”
Doctor: “The patient right now has suffered retrograde amnesia because of after effects of the head injury. His memory has regressed back to five years ago.”
GT: “Five years ago? Then what about the things that happened during these past five years?! He’s forgotten all of it?”
Doctor: “It seems so for now. But the human brain is very complex. I believe that after a bit of time lapses that this situation should be able to reverse. But I can’t rule out the possibility of his memory never returning. Presently we can only monitor his condition, focus on physical recovery as our primary objective.”
GT: “Oh, okay. Thank you.”
*doctor walks away*
GT: “Of all the things to lose…he had to lose these last five years…everything after meeting me he’s completely lost. Memory frozen at age 22…when he was still besotted with Jiang Mue…
*texts Li Jie* “XZH has woken but he apparently has amnesia….”
SCENE SHIFTS back to XZH’s bedside, Guo Tang speaks to XZH:
“I’m sure the doctor has told you right?. This really is 2028. This is not a prank. I am also not a liar…”
XZH: “Where’s Jiang Mue?”
Guo Tang: “You have to listen to me calmly…you and Jiang Mue have broken up for a while now, since five years ago you’ve been broken up…”
XZH: “Then you….”
Guo Tang: “I’m your current…partner.”
XZH: “Me and you?”
Guo Tang: “Yes, me and you.”
XZH: (in disdain/contempt) “Hmph.”
Guo Tang: (thinking to himself in frustration) He’s already a fool in his current state and he’s still looking down on me?
XZH: “Give me my cell phone. I want to make a call.”
GT: “Who do you want to call?”
XZH dials without answering, dial tone, no answer, Guo Tang leans over to look at phone’s screen.
GT: “Oh Li Jie? I already called her just now. She said she’ll be right over. Li Jie is your agent. It was you who told me to memorize her number. You said when I can’t reach you, I should contact her. You’ve completely forgotten?”

XZH: *finally call goes through* “It’s me. Yes. I can’t remember anything…yes he’s here. He’s told me everything…I know.” *hangs up* “Tang Lie told me to trust you.”
****Tang Lie is Li Jie’s full name,
GT: “I have no reason to lie to you after all. Besides Mr Xi, you’re so intelligent, how could someone with my aptitude pull the wool over your eyes?”
XZH ignores him, starts to look up news on cell phone
GT: “You just woke up, it’s best not to read anything for too long otherwise-“
XZH: *groans in pain*
GT: *concerned, holds and helps XZH* “Like I said, give me your phone. Your wounds are still healing, don’t worry about anything else except recovery for the moment. Are you tired? Why don’t you go to sleep for a bit?”

Tang Lie/Lie Jie finally arrives, rushing to hospital room.
Tang Lie: “Xiao Tang!”
GT: “Shh, he’s asleep, lets talk outside”
Tang Lie: “Okay.”
(they step outside)

Tang Lie: “These couple of days have been hard on you Xiao Tang….now that XZH is like this, please don’t abandon him.”
GT: “Don’t worry I will take care of him.”
Tang Lie: “XZH really has such bad luck…5 years ago he was already in an accident and just barely recovered and now he has to do it all over again. There’s no telling how much pain he’ll have to go through this time. As his cousin I…my heart really weeps for him.”

GT: “Lie Jie, there’s no need to worry. The doctor already said there’s nothing majorly wrong with his body. He can be discharged really soon.”
TL: “Thank you Xiao Tang, if it wasn’t for you, XZH wouldn’t even be here today.”
GT: “I owe it to XZH to at least do this much. Please don’t be so formal with me.”
*hears sound inside hospital room*

Lie Jie: “Has XZH woken?”
*they enter room*
TL: “ZH, You’re awake! Thank god, I was scared to death.”
GT: “Mr Xi.”
XZH: *indicating GT* “You, leave.”
GT: “Oh. Okay. On my way, I’ll tell Assistant Feng to come over and help you. Tomorrow I’ll come and see you again. I’ll see you later Tang Lie.”
TL: “Okay, be careful on the road.”

Scene changes to the French restaurant where Guo Tang is eating with his sister.
Guo Tang: “This steak is really good, have a taste.”
GT’s sister: “What have you been doing these days?”
Guo Tang: “*sighs* “XZH these past few days was in an accident. Today he finally woke but claimed that he was 22 years old. Doctors said something about retrograde amnesia…can’t even be sure if he’ll ever go back to normal.”

GT’s sister: “Car accident? How come this guy is always getting into car accidents? Actually if he has amnesia then it’s good because you can use this chance to completely break up with him. This guy’s personality is not good. Be careful he doesn’t ruin you.”
GT: “I won’t. I just want to hold onto him. Follow him my entire life.”
GT’s sister: “These years that you’ve been an actor hasn’t earned you enough money yet to retire? Don’t give me the excuse that you love him, I won’t believe in such a ludicrous excuse.”
GT: “Sister, are you even living in the real world?”
GT’s sister: “Huh.”

GT: “The mansion I bought. Yes the one you’re currently living in by yourself right now. Just the water and electricity a year costs over 100,000, and that’s not counting the money for grounds keeping. You have your studies and coursework so I obviously can’t rely on you for money. Me? GT: “You’re willing, I’m not willing. I don’t want to suffer anymore. Don’t want to live days where I’m drinking till the bottle’s empty and waking up next morning in the bathroom….(in reference not to alcoholism but his past career as a male host for rich ppl) If I don’t stick with XZH then do you want me to go back to working in clubs? Sister, life is never that easy. If you want something there’s always a price you have to pay.”
Note: the rest of this first track is all in a series of flashbacks from 5 years ago, with each successive scene transition getting closer and closer to present time but the last scene is still in the past.
(This is the first time he ever met XZH, when he was working as a male host at parties, think bachelorette but also a club for gay men):
Partying girl: “Hey handsome, open that bottle, pour some for our Ah Lan sister, and then feed it to her mouth to mouth. Hahaha.
Ah Lan sister: (playfully) “So bothersome”
Partying girl: “What’s there to be embarrassed about? Come on handsome, hurry up and feed her.”
GT: (to Ah Lan) “Does big sis like me holding you or do you want to sit in my lap? Your lipstick is so pretty, I want to taste it and see how sweet it is.” *leans in for kiss but at last minute is jerked up by his shirt collar by a man*

GT (looks bewilderingly at the two men that have man handled him standing up): “Um, what can I do for you two fine gentlemen?”
Party Girl: “What are you goons doing? So annoying.”
Goon 1: “Let’s switch hosts.” *female host saunters over to the partiers, replacing Guo Tang as GT is led away into back room where group of XZH’s friends are waiting*

GT: “Um, gentlemen, this is…”
XZH’s friend 1: “I think this one looks quite handsome, what do you think?”
XZH’s friend 2 thinks.
XZH’s friend 1: “Doesn’t he (referring to XZH) like exactly this type? Look at that face, such a scholarly youthful air about him, just like you know who (referring to Jiang Mue). I don’t know what he sees in that pompous fraud, thinking he’s so great.” *pats GT* “A guy like this is much better, much more wholesome/tangible. Come on lets send him over.”
XZH’s friend 2: (*to GT*) “Be quick on your wits boy.”
*they arrive at private booked room, GT hesitates at threshold*
XZH’s friend 2: “Come on step in, don’t just loiter on the edge.” *GT steps in* “Go. Do you see that guy wearing a black mask on the sofa? Go take care of him well.”

GT: “Sir, my contract doesn’t include…”
Goon 2: “Then it’s included now.”
GT: “Um…I…”
Goon 2: “If you take care of him well, I’ll double your fee. Just him alone. You don’t have to pay mind to anyone else.”
GT: “Okay. I’ll do it.” *walks over to masked guy* (thinking to himself) Is he drunk?
XZH: “Ah Mue?” ***this is term of endearment for Jiang Mue***
GT: “I…”
XZH’s friend 1: “Answer him yes.”
GT: “Yes, I am Ah Mue.”
XZH suddenly jumps on GT, embracing him tightly: “I just knew you couldn’t stand me being brokenhearted.” *starts undressing GT, yanking on his belt/clothes; door closes behind them*
GT: “Sir!” *continually being undressed*
XZH: “Ah Mue, don’t leave me. Don’t leave me…”

Scene shifts: “Sing sister, let me introduce, this is one of best hosts. Very obedient.” *to GT* “Come on introduce yourself to sister Sing.”
GT: “Sister Sing, hello.”
Sing sister: “What is your name?”
GT: “I’m called Guo Tang.”
“Your eyes look a lot like my little brother. Today is his birthday.”

GT: “Then how come you aren’t celebrating his birthday with him?”
Sing: “He got leukemia and is no longer here.”
GT: “Sorry, I shouldn’t have asked.”
Sing: “If he was still alive, he should be about your age right now. Guo Tang, do you want to be my god brother?”
GT: “Me?”
Sing: “Why do you work here?”
GT: “My dad owes a lot of money I have to work to pay it off and support my sister while she’s in school.”
Sing: “You look very handsome, I have some connections in the entertainment circle. I can turn you into an actor, the money you earn will be more than what you make at this club.”
GT: “Thank you Sister Sing!”
Sing: “My full name is Sing Mei Fang. Just call me Mei Fang.”

His agent: “This awards ceremony is a rare opportunity. You just came into this circle with not a lot of experience so far. You have to make connections, make sure to make an impression so ppl remember you. Don’t be shy and remember to stick out.”
GT: “Okay, I’m entering.”
(steps into awards banquet, gets near group of ppl talking about a drama that one of them is in, playing the second main lead)

GT enters into conversation: “Hi! Long time no see. What are you talking about?”
Random guy who knows him: “Hey Guo Tang, what are you filming these days?”
GT: “Oh just a brainless idol drama series.”
Guy 2: “Who’s the director?”
GT: “Lue Xing.”
Guy 2: “Oh I heard he really likes young male actors. You must really by the apple of his eye.”
*awkward laughs*
GT: “Hahaha, um, I’m going to visit the restroom, excuse me.”
(Inside restrooms. GT sees XZH in clear light for the first time, he thinks: Oh Xi Zong He, I think he’s also a new actor. Why don’t I go and talk to him too.)
GT: “Hi, my name’s Guo Tang, are you free to chat?”
XZH: “Hello.”
GT: “Is this your first time participating in such an award ceremony?”
XZH: “Mhm.”
GT: “Me too. I think the best tasting food is their Ma Ti Cake.”
Jiang Mue steps into bathroom too, sees GT talking to XZH: “Xiao He, what are you doing?
GT thinking to himself: WHOA. Isn’t this the big star Jiang Mue?!
Jiang Mue *looks over at GT then back at XZH* : “You two…know each other?”
XZH: “Just met.”
Jiang Mue: “Oh okay. Let’s go over there and talk. *to GT* Excuse us.”
GT (in exasperation): “Both new stars and yet such different treatment/luck.” (Steps out of bathroom) “Ugh, such a hot central heating. I’m blazing. I’ll go to the balcony to take in some air.”

GT (with drink in hand), thinking: Hmm. Someone’s coming. (It’s Jiang Mue and XZH, they don’t see GT)
Jiang Mue: “You just entered the entertainment world so you don’t know, there’s flies that specifically target handsome guys like you for exploitation. In the future, don’t let just anyone approach you, otherwise you’ll get sold without even knowing it.”
GT (thinking): Um…he’s not referring to me is he?
XZH: “Are you jealous?”
Jiang Mue: “This is just advice from an old timer to a new timer, don’t be stupid.”
XZH *approaches JM* “Really?”
Jiang Mue: Xiao He…
XZH: “Ah Mue…”

GT is visiting Sing Mei Fang/Sister Sing.
She has gotten cancer like her real brother and is in hospital, on the verge of dying with not much time left.)
GT: “Mei Fang sister, I’m here to see you. Eh, how come you’re once again not properly resting?! All day and night just staring at your phone. The doctor said your illness needs-“
Sing: “Rest, I know. You yourself know that I don’t have much time left. In the time remaining, don’t you think I should be able to do whatever I want? After long I won’t even have the strength to raise my phone, by then I’ll have all the time to rest.”

GT: “Don’t say such nonsense. The doctor said as long as you properly receive chemotherapy your body will slowly recover.”
(tv newscast sounds behind them) “In most up to date entertainment news, the current popular XZH actor has been in a car accident and has been transferred to hospital. It is rumored his leg injury is not a laughing matter-“
Sing: “GT, do you know that guy? That XZH has been transferred to this hospital. In the upstairs hospital rooms, I hear from the nurses gossiping that his leg injury is so severe that he could never walk again.”
GT: “That serious?”
Sing: *sighs* “He’s so young still too…to be crippled already, it’s so pitiful.”
GT: “Yeah…he’s so unfortunate.”

Sing: “I hear also that he’s having trouble accepting his paralysis and keeps throwing a temper, refusing to accept treatment. All of the nurses that treat him are stressed around him. GT: “Jiang Mue?”
Sing: “Oh yes that’s it! How did you know?”
Gt: “Half a year ago…I coincidentally ran into both of them at an awards ceremony.”

GT: “You say that but if you hadn’t helped me back in the days, I’d still be in the clubs as male host. I want to treat you like a real sister so don’t be courteous with me.”

GT’s internal monologue interrupts, he’s thinking: I recognize that voice. It’s the guy from the club. He was in cohorts with that masked man on the sofa…then that means that masked man must have been-“

(Scene skips to tomorrow, GT is once more leaving Sing’s hospital room after his visit.)

GT: “Mei Fang sister, you take care and rest well. I’ll visit you again soon.” *thinking to himself* Oh the weather is so nice. Why don’t I take a stroll through the hospital’s park?
XZH: “You haven’t seen me for two months and when you finally visit you say this to me?!”
(Jiang Mue said he wanted to break up off screen)
XZH: “Jiang Mue, don’t mention what you said again. I can pretend this time nothing happened-“
Jiang Mue: “You can pretend nothing happened but I can’t. Xiao He, I was with you to be happy, now that I’m unhappy I naturally have to separate to find my own happiness. I’m not a wishy washy guy. I don’t want to drag you with me in unhappiness-“
XZH: “Unhappy?! Before my accident you never said anything of the sort. What? Is it because I can no longer stand and you’re desperate to discard me?!”
Jiang Mue: “Whatever you want to think. If thinking that about me helps you feel better then I don’t mind.” (He starts to walk away.)
XZH tries to grab onto him, pleading for him to stay. “Ah Mue! I didn’t mean that. Don’t go!” (He tries to keep Jiang Mue from leaving but falls instead from his wheelchair as Jiang Mue shakes him off.)
GT rushes in, asking: “Are you alright?”
XZH: “Help me up.”
GT: “Mr Xi, your health is more important than anything else.”
XZH: “Have we met before?”
GT: “Oh, previously at a movie award ceremony.”
XZH: “Oh, I remember now. So that was you. You’ve intentionally approached me more than once now…was it really all just a coincidence or…”
GT: “Yes, I indeed have something I want to ask your help with.” *he kneels in front of XZH* “Mr Xi please help me. I owe some loan sharks a lot of money. If I can’t repay them they’ll kill me. I don’t have any connections, just by luck entered this circle. I have no one I can rely on. I’m desperate. I know that you Mr Xi are a good person, please help me. Even if it’s jumping into fire, I’ll do whatever I can to pay you back.”
XZH: “I don’t need you to jump through fire for me…but there is something you can do for me…you’re called Guo Tang?”
GT: “Yes.”
XZH: “I think we can sign a contract. I’ll clear your debts but you’ll have to put out equal reimbursement to pay me back.”
GT: “As long as it’s something I can do, I’m willing to pay anything.”
XZH: “Okay, remember, this was of your own free will.”
