[Note: ‘Lord’ and ‘prince’ are pretty much interchangeable in this whole drama, EXCEPT for the main characters and the ‘Crown Prince’ set to inherit throne]

Red Dust Road Episode 1
prelude:
[night]
[In Room]
Maid A (whispering): Miss, it’s already late night, it’s time to rest.
[Close the wooden doors]
Xie Ruyu (lightly): Got it, you all can leave.
Maids A and B: Understood.
[The sound of footsteps fading away, the wooden door closes]
[Slight transition in time]
[A person crept into the room]
[Someone draws and flashes a blade]
Xie Ruyu (waking up): Who are you! (pauses) AHHH!! *killed*
[Anxious footsteps]
[Vocal noise]
Maid A: Miss? What’s wrong, miss?!!
Maid B (Fearfully): Ah!! Blood!!
Maid A: Guards!!!! Come here! There’s been a death! Miss was killed by someone!!
Servant: (panicking and yelling while running) Help!! GUARDS!! There’s been a death!!!
[Stumbling footsteps away]
[Noisy vocals fade away]
[BGM gradually enters]
Announcement: Su Te’s original work, individual ancient style fantasy radio drama, “Red Dust Road” [Mortal Affairs Path], the first episode.
Scene one:
[day]
[Street View Sound Effect]
[Vocal noise]
Storyteller: Since the extraordinary death of this renowned beauty, Xie Ruyu, the Xiu Lord, He Lanling, mourned deeply, alas! This was a beautiful woman! He Lanling immediately rushed back to Hangzhou to see her. However, Xie Ruyu by then had already been placed into the coffin, buried beneath the soil. He Lanling couldn’t even see the last sight of his beloved woman. With grief and anger, he ordered the local governor to quickly close the case…
Listener A (impatient): Old man, you have already said this many times. What happened afterward?
Storyteller [drinking tea] (slowly): Later? Why then this case found no ending. The murderer didn’t even flash a shadow, let alone leave any trace of his crime. Xie Ruyu was just a weak woman bought from a brothel. What power or connections could she have had other than with Lord He Lan? Who else but him can find her justice?
Listener A (sighs): She was a pitiful beautiful woman that died so unfortunately.
Reader B (sorry): Indeed, indeed … what then?
Storyteller: What then? Now the lord was under pressure from the emperor, so he had to close the case in a hurry. But there is something strange that occurred…apparently from then on, the He Lan Palace became haunted…
[The voice fades]
[Scene conversion]
[He Lan Lord’s bedroom]
Xiaoxi: Taoist, please step inside.
Yun Zong: Mm. Go inform everyone that besides the lord, all the other family members and other idle personnel must evacuate. Only leave two servants to serve the prince. I will stay until midnight and catch these ghosts at once!
[Night and quiet atmosphere]
[The wind suddenly blows over]
[The wooden door opens slowly]
Xie Ruyu (laughs softly, some ethereal ghost sounds accompany her)
Xie Ruyu: After sleeping for all these days, you should wake up by now.
He Lanling (half awake): Mmm…
Xie Ruyu: Inviting such a vulgar Taoist to come to catch me-(sneeringly) He Lanling, are you going senile?
He Lanling (coldly): Xie Ruyu, what did you do to the Taoist?
4:55
Xie Ruyu (pretending to be wronged): You’re asking me that? I don’t like to kill people indiscriminately. I merely activated his body’s pressure point to let him have a good night’s sleep. (pretending to complain) Lord, how come you resent me like this now? Could it be that love sickness for me has caused you grief that you’re venting out? (The tone becomes cold) Okay, enough with the games, tell me where did you hide that thing?
5:22
He Lanling (coldly): If your master wants it so much, just ask him to come get it in person.
Xie Ruyu (with a slight smile): My master? Who is my master? My lord has known me for such a long time, don’t you know that only others call me the master, that there’s no one I call master to?
5:40
He Lanling: Xie Ruyu, tonight let’s just be open with each other. Isn’t your master Qin Ko Zen, ‘Master Qin’? The treasure of MingHua Sect was stolen by someone and arbitrarily planted in the head of my He Lan Mansion, creating not a moment’s rest in my mansion. Master Qin really had a clear and clever strategem!
6:05
Xie Ruyu (softly smiling): Well said! But isn’t my Lord also clever? Pretending to be in love with me at first sight but in reality only intending to keep me under house arrest while you interrogated me about the MingHua Sect’s secrets. Were you not afraid of hurting my feelings?
[Suddenly an amused voice emits from outside]
Yun Zong’s voice from outside: If the Lord really could succeed in hurting a famous hooker’s feelings then this Taoist really will have seen it all.
He Lanling (loudly/aggravated): You still have the mood to hide outside and watch a good show-come in here immediately to catch this ghost!
[The wooden door pushes open, footsteps enter]
Yun Zong: This poor Taoist, Yun Zong, pays greetings to leader Qin.
He Lanling (surprised): What?! You’re saying she is … Qin Ko Zen?!
Yun Zong (sigh): This Lord is really a piece of wood. You’ve spent so many days with this escort and yet couldn’t even tell if they were male or female. It’s a waste of Master Qin’s affection for you.
6:55
[Xie Ruyu laughs and the laughs change from a female CV to a male CV.]
Qin Ko Zen (restored male voice): So it turns out to be Yun Shangjun. I should have expected that the person the Lord invited to deal with me would not be an ordinary Taoist. This Lord and I spent many days together in the morning and evening and yet he never once realized that I was a man. Yun Shangjun is only an outsider by this prince’s side, how could you see through my identity with one glance?
7:25
Yun Zong (with a slight smile): Although leader Qin is a man of heaven and nature in power, he does not breathe a woman’s breath. How can the disciples of monasticism not discern between a pure Yang Breath and a pure Yin Breath? In addition, leader Qin pretended to be a flying ghost day and night. This poor Taoist could not think of anyone else other than leader Qin, who would have such extraordinary qin gong*.
7:50
*[Qing gong is light footwork martial arts, the type used to fly and travel long distances over short durations]
He Lanling (anxious): Yun Zong, if he is Qin Ko Zen then definitely don’t let him escape!
Yun Zong: Master Qin, pardon this Taoist’s rudeness! [Readying to fight]
Qin Ko Zen (quickly): Hold it! Yun Shangjun, do you know what poison is inside the prince right now?
He Lanling (adamant): No matter what poison is in my body, the antidote must be on him! Yun Zong, catch him!
Qin Ko Zen (cold): This Lord is ridiculous. Why would I carry the antidote on my body when I’m the one that poisoned you? So that I could be ready at any moment to cure you?
8:18
He Lanling: Hmph. Even if the antidote is not on you, as long as you are in my hands, should I be afraid that your subordinates will not obediently deliver the antidote?
8:28
Qin Ko Zen: Lord, for a clever man how can you be so dense right now? My poison for you is called 7 Day Chasing Soul Powder. Calculate for a second, since you fell ill hasn’t it been exactly 7 days? If you believe in me then let me go back to my sect to retrieve the antidote. If you don’t believe me, let’s say even if Yun Shangjun was able to detain me, but then I refused to communicate for a messenger to bring the antidote? Then what would you do? You know my temperament, the most unreasonable disposition that hates being forced by anyone. Even if you killed me, I would not let anyone give you the cure.
9:09
Yun Zong (helpless): Then…if that’s the case, I will go with Leader Qin to retrieve the antidote.
He Lanling (frantically): Yun Zong! Qin Ko Zen has always been devious, how can you trust him?!
Yun Zong (sigh): What can you do except trust him for now? What’s more, with the identity and reputation of Leader Qin, as soon as a promise is made, he should not be able to go back on his word.
9:32
He Lanling (a moment of contemplation): So be it Yun Zong, take care of yourself. Be cautious no matter what.
9:41
Scene two:
[night]
[Rural trail]
[Two hurried footsteps]
Qin Ko Zen: Ughh!! [body slips]
Yun Zong (anxious): Master Qin, what’s wrong with you?
Qin Ko Zen (suppressing gasps): Yun Shangjun … Please, please help me to the side of the road and wait for me while I rest.
10:11
Yun Zong [analyzing while checking his wrist’s pulse line]: The pulse is strange, but it feels like … (anxiously) Master Qin … Did you also get poisoned?
Qin Ko Zen (wry smile): You guessed it right, I was indeed poisoned.
Yun Zong (shocked): How could be you be poisoned! Unless it was…
Qin Ko Zen (heavy breathing): The culprit is just as you guessed. Yun Shangjun, since I can poison He Lanling, he can naturally poison me. If I guess correctly, the poison…this poison has already been in me for a while now-around one to two months.
11:00
Yun Zong (doubt): Your identity at that time was still Xie Ruyu, how could He Lanling poison you?
Qin Ko Zen (laughs): You think that He Lanling really liked Xie Ruyu? He doubted my identity from the beginning. From the outside, he appeared as if wanting to marry me into the manor, but he just wanted to restrain me so that he could divulge the secrets of the MingHua sect. Otherwise, why would I pretend to die? Wouldn’t it be better to just go through with entering into the manor?
11:43
(Gasp) But this He Lanling is also really devious, enacting such a sinister thing on me! He wanted to watch me become erotic and confused, and then interrogate me when I was the least cognizant of myself!
12:03
Yun Zong (skeptically): What poison did he give you?
Qin Ko Zen (whispering): Yun Shangjun, you are a monk, and I’m afraid to speak the truth and scare you—the thing in me is an aphrodisiac.
12:20
Yun Zong (snapping): Impossible! He Lanling could not be this kind of person!
Qin Ko Zen (sneer): How do you know he is not such a person? He didn’t know that I was a man. What’s so strange about him dosing me with this kind of medicine?
13:36
Yun Zong (sinking face): If he wanted to misbehave with you, he would have already done so before, why would he need any drug? What’s more, you said that the poison was already placed in you long ago. Since it is an aphrodisiac, why did it not activate until now? Be honest with me, what poison is in you?
12:58
Qin Ko Zen (indulgently): Yun Shangjun, you know what I lost and tried to retrieve just now?
I’ll be completely honest. The martial arts I practice is a kind of unique practice that is centered around cold Yin energy. I have to rely on a thousand-year-old warm jade that has been passed down from generation to generation in my sect to restrain the coldness in my body.
13:19
This thing has been stolen so the icy energy has nothing restraining it. Within three months my qi is destined to deviate, destroying all my meridians. I just didn’t expect that right now would be my deadline.
[YZ takes his pulse]
Yun Zong [thinking]: His pulse does feel strange, and there is a sign that he can’t control the Qi in his body. Is it really a precursor to deviation and meridian destruction?
Yun Zong: There is a cave here, come with me!
[Footstep sound, Yun Zong presses his palms against Qin Ko Zen’s back and gives him his own qi to try and stabilize him, unsuccessfully so]
14:14
Qin Ko Zen (weak): Yun Shangjun, if the coldness in my body could be controlled so easily, how could I have fallen to such a point right now?
Yun Zong (strongly): Don’t talk if you want to live!
Qin Ko Zen (murmuring semi-conciously): I’m … it’s so cold … is it snowing?
[Without hesitation, because of his kind heart, YZ wraps his arms around the man, hugging him tightly in a bid to warm him up.]
14:44
Yun Zong: Master Qin, is it better now?
14:47
[Suddenly feeling the warmth, like a fire in the throes of winter, QKZ reciprocated the embrace with every fiber of his being. He rubbed his entire body against YZ, burying his face into his chest, before suddenly pressing his lips against his. In the shock of the moment, Yun Zong’s mouth got propped open and felt his tongue fiercely sucked upon by another’s.
Finally recovering from his shock, YZ pushes Qin Ko Zen away]
Yun Zong (trying to stabilize his own breathing): Master Qin, what are you doing?!
14:57
[It turned out that the cold Yin energy in QKZ’s body had interacted with YZ’s pure Yang energy. When the cold energy was reconciled, somehow, lust had risen to take it’s place. So when YZ embraced him -when their skins touched and the man smelled YZ’s faint sandalwood scent, QKZ could not hold back anymore.
He suddenly shoved YZ to the ground and caged himself entirely on top.
QKZ flutters his sleeves as he undoes his own belt.
YZ was shocked beyond measure, even his Taoist’s whisk was flung to the side out of his grip. He was a student of Monasticism and hadn’t ever even touched a girl’s hand before. YZ would never even dream that two men could do something like this together. He rationalized that in the man’s semi-conscious state, QKZ had thought he was a woman.
He could only fiercely resist QKZ’s yanks on his clothes, trying to undo his attire.]
Yun Zong (anxious): You!! ——
[QKZ uses his own belt to bind both of YZ’s hands.]
Qin Ko Zen (rough breaths): Be obedient and don’t move.
[YZ still nonetheless struggled but the more he resisted, the more QKZ wanted to dominate him. In the end QKZ decided to jab YZ’s immobilization pressure point.]
15:07
[He rips off YZ’s pants and YZ is frightened/shocked beyond measure. As indifferent as he was, when YZ felt QKZ’s finger inserted into his back entrance, he felt like his whole world was crashing down, absolute despair filling his being.
In his benevolence, YZ had exerted his own internal qi to try and save the man and yet this was the compensation he was receiving.
He was the infamous Temple Lord that ruled over Qing Feng Guan, Yun Shangjun, with dozens of disciples looking up to him, considering him a saint and untainted by such affairs but now one man was going to ruin all his years of cultivating.
Yun Zong (gasping): Master Qin, wake up! This poor Taoist is Yun Zong! Not a woman!
[QKZ continues kissing his lips, his neck, gyrating against him, he undoes his own pants and props to enter but the entrance is too tight and he is unable to penetrate, so he settles to just pivot against the man’s thighs.]
Yun Zong (screaming): Ah … um!!
[YZ passes out before QKZ climaxes and passes out against him.]
[Early morning]
16:18
Qin Ko Zen (wakes up) (sits up): Where is this? (inhales a breath) (sees disheveled clothes on both him and sleeping Yun Zong) This…this is!!
[thinking] Considering what happened yesterday, with the power of Yun Zong, he will surely retaliate with the power of Qing Feng Guan. (considering) Why don’t I … take the opportunity to kill him? [draws sword, he walk to YZ]
Yun Zong (still unconscious): Mmmm…
[Sword falls back into sheathe]
Qin Ko Zen: [thinking] No, I can’t kill him … If I killed him, I will be retaliated against by He Lanling. (noticing that the cold energy in himself has been regressed) Furthermore, this person might be of further use to me.
[He picks up YZ and walks with him out of the cave]
17:09
Scene three:
[The sound of pouring water into teacup inside bedroom, heavy rain outside]
Yun Zong (groggy but wakening): Um….
[Teacup is set down]
Pei Yao, one of QKZ’s servants, (chuckles): Taoist, you are awake.
Yun Zong (weak): Girl, where is this…?
17:26
Pei Yao (overjoyed): I will go and call the leader. Taoist has been unconscious for four full hours but has finally awoken!
Yun Zong (shocked) [thinking]: The leader? Could it be … this is Qin Ko Zen’s house? (Slowly think of what happened last night, shocked and angry) Last night, last night he–
17:43
[The sound of footsteps approaching]
Qin Ko Zen (soft voice): Yun Shangjun
Yun Zong: You?!
Qin Ko Zen [sits close to him]: Yun Shangjun, last night this one mightily offended you because of my qi deviation and poison; I committed a grave error. I beg that Yun Shangjun forgives. If Shangjun decides to ask Qin to repay with my death, I will say no complaint at all!
18:04
[YZ was trained to never hate anyone during his years of monasticism, as apart of the Tao principle path which is to cut off all 7 emotions and 6 desires. Additionally, YZ is under the belief that QKZ had no control over actions that night.]
Yun Zong [sigh]: Oh well. (Suddenly remembers something urgent) Master Qin, where is the antidote to 7 Days Chasing Soul Powder?
Qin Ko Zen (Appease): Yun Shangjun, please rest assured that the lord is not in a dilemma. In fact, I did not poison the prince at all. That Seven Days Chasing Soul Powder …… was just my extemporized lie to escape.
18:28
Yun Zong (tired): Last night since leader Qin was unable to control himself, this poor Taoist will consider the event as just saving a life. There’s no need to mention yesterday’s events again. Since the prince was not poisoned, the poor Taoist will take his leave.
[Fabric sounds as he gets up from the bed, takes a few steps but staggers in fatigue]
Qin Ko Zen: Yun Shangjun please halt. I will be honest. Last night … (The tone is full of remorse) Shangjun has gotten hurt by the cold energy in my body. Now that the cold has entered your body, Yun Shangjun … I am afraid that you will suffer from the same fate as me.
19:05
[Fabric sounds; Yun Zong is vehemently struggling to get up, weak breathing sounds, falters again]
Qin Ko Zen: Yun Shangjun, why won’t you listen?
Yun Zong (weak voice): The matter has come to an end, Master Qin does not have to blame himself. I have decided not to pursue it again, but I can’t spend one on one time with you. This poor Taoist still has to leave and rush back to Qing Feng Guan. Goodbye.
[He leaves but is pulled back by QKZ]
Qin Ko Zen (pleadingly): Shangjun mustn’t leave!
Yun Zong (displeased): What exactly does Master Qin intend?
19:40
Qin Ko Zen (gently): I’m … Actually, I quite fancy Shangjun very much in my heart. (pause) If Shangjun doesn’t mind, how about staying? Qin will do his utmost best to find a way to cure the cold energy inside Shangjun.
Yun Zong (shocked): Is Lord Qin joking? This Taoist is a student of monasticism that must rush back to Qing Feng Guan immediately, how can I stay?
Qin Ko Zen (desperate): Does Shangjun look down on this one?
20:07
Yun Zong: I … I don’t mean that…
Qin Ko Zen (dully): If Shangjun doesn’t look down upon me, why are you avoiding me like a viper? So it turns out that I am so unbearable in Shangjun’s mind…
Yun Zong (helpless): This poor Taoist doesn’t look down on the good intentions of Leader Qin… Very well, since the Master is kind, this poor Taoist will bother you for a few days. It’s just I will try to solve the cold energy on my own, Sect Leader does not have to bother with it.
Qin Ko Zen (joyfully): So, Shangjun has promised Qin then? Shangjun please take a rest for a bit and I will order the servants to bring some food.
20:51
[Hurrying footstep sounds go outside as QKZ leaves, YZ rests on the bed]
Yun Zong: (sighs in exhaustion) It is what it is.
[Time slightly transitions]
[Platter topped with wine bottle and cups are placed onto table]
[QKZ pours wine into two cups]
Qin Ko Zen (smiling happily): Shangjun, with drinking this wine glass, consider it as my official apology.
21:20
Yun Zong (frowning): This poor Taoist does not drink.
Qin Ko Zen: This wine is made from glutinous rice, which is extremely slow acting. Additionally, this wine can warm you up, and as a result can suppress the cold energy in Shangjun’s body. I often drank this wine when I was suffering from cold energy. Shangjun please give face and accept my offer, so that I may rest without anymore guilt.
21:43
Yun Zong (indifferent): Thank you for your kindness. This poor Taoist accepts your apology without needing to drink it.
Qin Ko Zen (pretending to be wronged): Just one cup and Shangjun still refuses?
Yun Zong (takes cup finally and drinks): So, is the leader at ease now?
Qin Ko Zen (Gentle): Just call me my name from now on. You are not a person of my sect, no need to call me leader Qin.
Yun Zong (indifferent): Dare not, it is better to call you leader Qin.
22:14
Qin Ko Zen (slightly angry and impatient): If Shangjun doesn’t want to … then forget it. These small dishes, I specially ordered the cook to prepare for Shangjun; I hope that ShangJun won’t dislike them. Then, I will leave first.
22:41
Scene four:
[Time has a slight transition]
[Wood door opens]
[A woman’s footsteps walk in gently]
Pei Yao (respectfully): Sect Leader.
Qin Ko Zen [Turns over the page of book he is reading] (Inattentive): Has the drug taken into effect? He is not at all suspicious?
Pei Yao (respectfully): Yes, Yun Shangjun fell asleep after having his meal. He only said that he was not good with wine and no more. He does not suspect anything else.
23:05
[Qin closes book, stands up]
Qin Ko Zen: Good! You retreat.
[The wooden door opens of YZ’s guest bedroom, QKZ steps in]
Qin Ko Zen (softly): Shangjun? Shangjun?
[silence]
[Qin walks to the bed]
[sits down]
[QKZ flips YZ over; the man does not notice anything; QKZ’s smile deepens as he extends an arm out to gently pry open the man’s collar, using the chance to move his hand down at the same time to feel YZ’s incredibly smooth flesh.
QKZ’s palm caressed YZ’s waist through the clothes and noted how thin and lean it was, the sensation extremely pleasing; he couldn’t help sighing. QKZ kisses the man’s lips.]
Qin Ko Zen (chuckles): It’s hard to imagine a Taoist priest would have such a wonderful physique. (The tone becomes thinner and softer.) Yun Zong…Yun Zong, such a wanton name and yet the person is so boring.
Yun Zong (low breaths): *murmurs in his sleep* Mmm…ah…
[He reverently kisses YZ’s body starting from the chest to slowly down his waist. QKZ’s eyes clouded in his desire; he’d seen plenty of beauties in his life as sect leader, both males and females were readily available to him but for some reason such a pedantic heroic Taoist, in faded poor clothes, provoked his lust deeper than anyone else.
With no more hesitation, he quickly stripped YZ and himself of all clothes, before moving on top of the unconscious man.
In his sleep, YZ just registered that he was being pressed by something heavy against his back, yet try as he could, YZ was unable to open his eyes. His subconscious rationalized that perhaps he was just too tired, to the point where even his reactions were slowed.
In his blurred consciousness, he registered pain and couldn’t help emitting a low moan of discomfort, but his body was defenseless and completely without resistance.
QKZ currently was thrusting in and out of his backside, extremely impassioned; he’d applied ointment onto YZ’s entrance so the sensation was not just enticing but refreshing and cool. It also had the lubrication effect so QKZ effortlessly moved back and forth.
Since YZ was unconscious, QKZ didn’t bother pleasuring the man. He just felt how tender and pliable the body beneath him was, his internal qi hot and tight where they were conjoined.
While QKZ moved, a stream of pure Yang energy flowed from YZ into his body. In all his sexual exploits, QKZ had never experienced such unrestrained, gratifying pleasure before. Additionally, he was even able to dispel the cold Yin energy inside of him at the same time…
Unable to restrain himself, QKZ went several rounds with the man.
YZ was pressed beneath him, completely at his mercy but though he couldn’t wake up or register what was happening, his body still couldn’t bear the pain and kept convulsing beneath him, overtly in a lot of pain.
Though QKZ noticed, he didn’t show a sliver of pity and continued with what he was doing. Finally, after a particularly violent penetration, QKZ withdrew in satisfaction.
[Draping his clothes around his shoulders, Qin Ko Zen gets out of bed.]
Qin Ko Zen (cold laughter): Ha … (commands coldly) Servant, clean him up carefully. If he wakes up at all, your head will pay the outcome!
24:35
Pei Yao (respectfully): Understood.
[Early morning]
Pei Yao: Yun Shangjun? Yun Shangjun has woken up? This humble servant was sent by the leader to serve you and is called Pei Yao. If you have any orders, please speak them to me.
[YZ sits up]
Yun Zong (embarrassed): Thank your sect leader for me. This poor Taoist wants to get dressed, please may I have some privacy?
25:05
Pei Yao (smiling happily): How about this humble servant help Shangjun to change his clothes?
Yun Zong: I dare not. The poor Taoist doesn’t need anyone to serve him. I ask that the girl go back and relay this message to your sect leader.
Pei Yao: Is Shangjun shy? Then this humble servant will close her eyes. (grievously) Pei Yao was ordered by the leader to serve Shangjun. If you don’t let me do so then I will be punished. Yun Shangjun, please just accept the Sect Leader’s good intentions.
25:30
Yun Zong: Then, allow me to be a bother for this girl…
[Clothing sounds as she helps him]
Pei Yao: Shangjun, do you want to freshen up?
Yun Zong (tired): I will rely on this girl to pick a hairpin for this poor Taoist.
25:44
Pei Yao: (opens box, bring out special carved hairpin) This was specially ordered by the leader for Shangjun and specially delivered here. Please look Shangjun, do you like it?
Yun Zong (surprise): This…this poor Taoist only needs ordinary hairpins, this is too…
Pei Yao: This is another of my sect leader’s heartfelt actions, please don’t reject it. (pause as she puts the hairpin in his hair) It really looks good. Shangjun’s appearance with this jasmine hairpin makes a heavenly outlook…
26:06
Yun Zong (light smile): Beauty or ugliness is in the eye of the beholder, the skin is just an external thing…
[The voice fades]
[Scene conversion]
[In the Garden]
[Two people play chess]
Qin Ko Zen (with a smile): With these passing days has Shangjun felt any better? I ordered the servants to bring a special tonic. Has Shangjun taken it yet?
26:31
Yun Zong: Pei Yao brought it to me. (pause) It’s strange that though I have been recuperating for many days now. Instead of feeling physically recovered, I’m losing more of my energy day by day. I fall asleep as soon as the sun sets. Master Qin, I think I should go back to the Qing Feng Temple. After leaving for such a long time, I feel a bit anxious.
Qin Ko Zen (worried): No, Shangjun’s injury was caused by me after all, I won’t let you go unless Shangjun has completely recovered. (pause) Perhaps the reason for Shangjun’s fatigue is because you have been trapped in your room all day? The MingHua sect has a large villa, Shangjun can walk around at will.
27:14
Yun Zong: I often hang out in the garden outside, I don’t feel bored.
[The two are silent for a bit]
Qin Ko Zen (suddenly gentle): Tomorrow is my birthday. If Shangjun does not mind, how about enjoying a glass of wine with me then?
27:27
Yun Zong (Hesitating): The amount of wine this poor Taoist can handle is really limited … I am afraid that I will ruin the mood for leader Qin.
Qin Ko Zen (disappointedly): I’m afraid that this might be the only time in my life that I will be able to enjoy a birthday together with Shangjun. Even if Shangjun is not good at drinking, substituting tea with wine is fine as well… …
27:55
[Night Banquet, loud voices]
Ming Hua Sect’s congregation respectfully proclaiming: We all would like to wish the Master blessings as vast as the East China Sea and for your longevity to be as high as the Southern Mountaintops!!
[Qin Ko Zen lifts his wine glass to toast everyone in the air]
28:05
Qin Ko Zen (loudly): All brothers don’t have to be polite, please feel free to enjoy yourselves today!!
[Qin Ko Zen drank the wine with a bold sip]
Member A: The birthday of the leader, brothers will toast the leader!
Member B: Hey, come, come, full cup, full cup!! Today is a big day for the leader, we brothers have to drink a few more!!
Member C: What are you talking about! The leader’s big day should be the day he gets married. (pause) Does the leader have a favorite woman yet?
Member D: Why do you care so much? Even if he favors a woman it definitely won’t be your dominatrix-like sister!
28:40
Member E: Hey, hey, drink and drink, everyone drink!!
[Laughing, everyone’s voice fades]
Pei Yao (anxious): The banquet has already begun. Why is Yun Shangjun still so slow? (tentatively) Doesn’t Shangjun want to celebrate with the leader?
28:54
Yun Zong (indifferent): I am not a member of MingHua sect. What does your sect leader’s birthday have to do with me?
Pei Yao: Well, this humble servant still has to wish the leader a happy birthday, and today I can’t serve Shangjun.
Yun Zong: You go, it’s okay. (pause) Your leader … how old is he this year?
29:15
Pei Yao (smiling): The leader is 22 years old.
Yun Zong (sighs): Twenty-two, two years younger than me. ‘Heroes appear at a young age’…
[The sound of footsteps sounds far away]
[Yun Zong slowly pacing, sits down, sighs softly]
[Memory flashback]
29:40
Yun Zong’s Master: My Lord, although your son is born in wealth, his life is not suited for the mortal affairs path, otherwise he is destined to die early.
Yun Zong’s father: Then according to what this chief foresees, how can his fate be resolved?
30:03
Master Yun Zong: If you want to keep his life safe, you must cut off all seven emotions and six desires for him, submit him to the Tao…
Little Yunzong (crying): Mother! Mother I don’t want to leave home … why should I leave home?
Yun Zongniang (crying): Zong’er … mother also can’t bear to part with you, but I can’t save your life if you don’t enter the Tao. Wear this protective faith jade pendant around your neck, and know that mother is always thinking about you…
Qin Ko Zen (pleading and gentle tone): I’m … Actually, I quite fancy Shangjun very much in my heart.
Master Yunzong: Yunzong, you must remember that your biggest dilemma in life is fated to be about love. Once you fall in love, so will your life fall as well… ….
[Memories fade]
31:14
Yun Zong (long sigh): Is this man … destined to be the heart’s demon I can’t avoid?
[The scene goes outside]
[Vocal noise]
31:41
Yun Ji, Qin Ko Zen’s concubine, complains: Sect leader hasn’t found Yun Ji in a long time. Did you forget about Yun Ji?
Qin Ko Zen (laughing): How can that be… …lately things have been busy…
Yun Ji (coquettish): Then sect leader must punish himself with a cup of wine…….
Qin Ko Zen: Of course (drinks)… …(stops when he sees YZ) Yun Shangjun?
[Sounds of rapid footsteps, QKZ runs after YZ after the latter turns and leaves; he grabs onto YZ’s arm]
Qin Ko Zen (hurriedly): Where is Shangjun going?
32:09
Yun Zong (indifferent): I didn’t know that the leader was here enduring the moonlight. I’m afraid of ruining the mood for sect leader and so I’m retiring for the night.
Qin Ko Zen (embarrassed): Shangjun misunderstood …
Yun Zong (indifferent, slightly cold): What has the sect leader done that could possibly make this poor Taoist misunderstand?
Qin Ko Zen (grievance): Has Shangjun been unable to detect my feelings for these past days? Just now, I was just misguided but please know that all I think about in my heart really is Shangjun …
32:33
Yun Zong (rage): Shut up! This poor Taoist is a monk. How can the leader be so disrespectful to a poor monk!
32:42
Qin Ko Zen: What’s so special about monasticism? Isn’t a monk still human? I like Shangjun in my heart, is that disrespectful to Shangjun? If I have no respect for Shangjun then how could I treat you with courtesy all these days, not daring to take one step across the pond to your room? (Tone becomes low and sad) Ever since Shangjun risked your health to save me, I haven’t been able to forget Shangjun…
33:06
Yun Zong (ashamed): Don’t say anymore!
Qin Ko Zen (choked): Shangjun, are you really this unfeeling? My heart really is bitter … although I think about you all the time, I dare not touch you. Knowing that you never liked noise, even today’s feast I dared not invite you to go. I only invited you to come sit with me for a cup of wine in the evening so that we could be together for a while… I was just too frustrated and couldn’t help distracting myself this way… …
33:42
Yun Zong: You…
Qin Ko Zen (murmured): I have never been so emotional towards someone … you are the first, you are the first…
[QKZ pulls him in for tight embrace then forced kiss]
[Clothing rustling sounds]
Yun Zong (gasping unstably): You, let me go!
34:10
Qin Ko Zen (whispering): Why? Obviously you also feel…
Yun Zong (panic): Let me go! You … if you keep this up … you will make me lose all of my power!
Qin Ko Zen: What you just said…what do you mean?
34:33
Yun Zong (peaceful respite): I have practiced ‘Qing Xing Jiu’ [Clear Heart Tactics] since I was a child, and I am most afraid of becoming emotional or loving anyone. Master once warned me that if I joined with someone before I reach the ninth level I will lose most of my internal strength and all my skillset or at the very least I will lose most of my skills. (pause)
34:55
Now I am currently on the eighth level, I have not yet practiced the ninth. Master Qin, please … don’t want force me. I’m afraid that this poor Taoist cannot reciprocate your affections.
Qin Ko Zen (meaningfully): So that’s how it is … then I will wait for you to reach the ninth floor, how does that sound?
35:20
Yun Zong (helpless): I…I didn’t mean that … with the leader’s status, reputation and looks, who can you not get if you ask for them? Why invest your heart on a monk like me? This poor Taoist really can’t promise the leader anything … I ask the leader to give up.
35:42
Qin Ko Zen [approaching] whispering: I will not give up. Out of everyone I only want you. Even if you don’t like me, I won’t ask for reciprocation; I’m willing to wait. You said you can’t be passionate or join with anyone so I will never touch you again in the future. Just being able to see you at all times and staying with you, is enough, is that all right? (pleadingly) If you agree, then nod your head ~
36:18
Qin Ko Zen (smiles): You nodded your answer. (pauses softly) There is a man outside the table waiting for me to make the closing toast. You should take a rest for a while, I will go out to deal with them, and then I will come to see you.
[QKZ leaves, YZ stays at Gateway]
Yun Zong [thinking]: If this man is my destined dilemma in love… I … how can I avoid my fate?
[Into ED]
QKZ is a hot piece of shit. Keep up the good work Defi,
