How to Incorrectly Ensnare a Demon Sect’s Leader (Ch 6-10)

Ji Han was stunned for a while before managing to open his mouth and ask: “You….what do you want?”

Zhao Jian Gue resolutely said: “Want you.”

Ji Han: “… …”

Even Zhao Jian Gue himself felt uncomfortable all over after saying that line. He could only furrow his own brows while he didn’t say another word. In his mind, he criticized those so called wise heroes and wondered how they even came up with this book of scripts in the first place. Absolutely bizarre.

Both parties stayed quiet for a long time, Ji Han eventually made up his mind and said: “Do you know who I am?”

Yes! Another line that matches with the scripts!

Zhao Jian Gue: “I know, but I don’t mind.”

Ji Han said: “You really know-“

Zhao Jian Gue; “I only care for your person and nothing else.”

Ji Han: “… …”

The carriage driver from awhile back had already squatted to one side of the carriage with both of his ears covered, constantly repeating the words: “I haven’t heard anything. I haven’t seen anything. Don’t kill me. Don’t kill me. Sect leader please don’t kill me.”

… …

Ji Han suddenly said: “You’re really Zhao Jian Gue?”

Zhao Jian Gue said brusquely: “Indeed.”

Ji Han coldly muttered: “Who would have thought that the world’s number one swordsman was a homosexual.”

Zhao Jian Gue: “… …”

No. Let me explain.

Ji Han: “I only want a match.”

Zhao Jian Gue: “… …”

Ji Han: “If you can’t battle with me then its best we each went our separate ways.”

Zhao Jian Gue: “I…”

Ji Han had already turned around and gotten back inside the carriage. The driver hurriedly sat back in position, waiting on his master’s orders at any moment.

Zhao Jian Gue kept looking at Ji Han, frowning and furrowing his brows.

With the conversation over, the driver with one lash of his long whip sent the carriage jettisoning forward.

Zhao Jian could only stand in place, covered entirely in dirt and dust with a deep grievance in his chest.

He wasn’t actually a homosexual.

But a gentleman’s word, the lash on a horse**; if he promised the elder heroes to seduce the Demon Sect leader then that’s what he had to do till he couldn’t anymore.

His qing gong*** was good enough to be ranked in the world’s top ten. Even if the Demon Sect leader drove away, it wasn’t really that big of a deal.

… …

He could absolutely catch up and seduce the sect leader!

**[A gentleman’s word, the lash of a horse] a proverb that means a gentleman must keep any promise he makes.

***Qing Gong is something very common in cultivation/martial arts plots, basically a skill category that allows a user to travel fast across large distances

As fast as Ji Han’s horse carriage was, it was no match for the qing gong of the world’s number one swordsman.

Zhao Jian Gue didn’t spend much effort chasing.

Previously his qing gong had been ranked in the world’s top ten but it didn’t mean that his sword skills were not as good as his qing gong, it just meant that with how advanced his swords skills were, there were really few and far in between opportunities to exhibit his qing gong prowess.

So very few people have ever seen the sight of him ardently chasing after a carriage.

While his robes were still as white as snow and hair was still neatly kempt, his complexion was less than attractive; anyone who chased a carriage past more than a hundred lis* would naturally not have that good of an expression.

Not to mention the fact that he knew the evil leader he was chasing right now was comfortably sitting in his carriage the entire time; the carriage’s interior probably had a roast chicken and a jug of liquor.

He could smell the fragrance of the latter.

Stopping at a small town, the Demon Sect leader finally disembarked and walked into the most upscale looking tavern/inn in the town.

Zhao Jian Gue had no choice but to follow in as well.

Walking in, he turned his head to and fro to see that this business was quite bustling; people coming in and going out. Just how exactly was he supposed to se…seduce that Demon Sect leader?

… …

Ji Han sat at the best seat of the tavern.

Zhao Jian Gue had a gloomy expression as he sat down next to the man.

Though all the accompaniment dishes were served, Ji Han never touched his chopsticks and just frigidly asked the man next to him: “How come you’re like a ghost haunting me?”

Those heroes sure could predict things like a god! This line was also in the book of possible scripts!

Zhao Jian Gue: “I’m not a haunting ghost, I’m just chasing you.”

Ji Han still coldly spoke: “What are you chasing me for?”

Zhao Jian Gue thought hard before answering: “I want you to take me back to the Demon Sect.”

Ji Han: “… …”

Zhao Jian Gue faltered for one moment, expression masking his emotions as he corrected himself: “Back to the Sacred Sect.”

Ji Han: “… …”

The corner of Zhao Jian Gue’s lips twitched slightly before he attempted to flash an evil coy grin: “Stop resisting, you can’t shake me off.”

Ji Han: “… …”

*literal translation is over a 100 “li” [里] which is an archaic unit of measurement for 300 paces, about 0.5 kilometers per “li”*, a hundred “li”s translates to about 50,000 meters, over 30 miles hahahahaha

Ji han suddenly said: “Taking you back to the sect is an easy matter under one condition.”

Very good! The plan is half afoot!

Zhao Jian Gue: “Under what condition?”

Ji Han: “You just have to duel me and I’ll take you back.”

Zhao Jian Gue: “… …”

Who would have thought this leader would yet again lead him back to this.

It seemed like this duel was unavoidable.

“Time and location are free for you to choose,” Ji Han spoke, “All you have to do is accept the challenge and I’ll definitely engage.”

Zhao Jian Gue remained silent not saying anything for a bit.

Ji Han sneered: “Since when was the number one swordsman such a coward that he isn’t brave enough to even accept a challenge.”

Things not predicted in the script were things he was afraid to answer.

It was a pretty unreliable script. So many missing lines. Better to rely on oneself.

Ji Han spoke: “Are you brave enough to accept or not?”

Zhao Jian Gue: “I accept.”

Ji Han practically jumped out of his seat. He pressed one hand on the old fashioned sword at his waist, a frisson of excitement entered his typically thousand-year-frozen icy gaze: “Unsheathe your sword!”

Zhao Jian Gue remained sitting, not moving at all. He slowly poured himself a cup of tea.

Zhao Jian Gue never drank alcohol. Drinking caused one’s reactions to be delayed which in a duel between sword masters could decide the duel’s result in an instant. Retaining the title “Number One Swordsman” was no easy matter; one had to constantly be at the top of one’s peak.

Ji Han raised his eyebrows and asked: “Why aren’t you drawing your sword?”

Zhao Jian Gue raised his head to meet his gaze, speaking: “I just want to know if the Demon Sect Leader’s words are accountable?”

Ji Han crossed his brows: “Naturally.”

Zhao Jian Gue said: “Very good.”

He took a sip from his cup of tea, before saying: “You said time and location is for me to decide so I’ll book the battle for one year from now.”

One year’s time was enough for him to waylay Ji Han, giving the Righteous Sects time enough to rally their forces in preparation for an attack.

Ji Han froze for a moment, before his expression darkened: “That’s shameless trickery!”

Zhao Jian Gue: “Time and location were to be chosen by me, was that not what you said?”

Ji Han: “…yes.”

Zhao Jian Gue: “Are the words of the Demon Sect Leader accountable or not?”

Ji Han: “Accountable.”

Zhao Jian Gue: “Very good, one year from now, at Sword View’s Summit.”

Ji Han: “Ah.”

Ji Han didn’t say anything else.

Instead, he poured himself another cup of liquor; expression frightfully scary.

Zhao Jian Gue exhaled the breath he’d been holding.

He was glad that the Demon Sect leader was still young in age –as intelligent as he was, he still was a bit naïve in terms of how the martial arts world worked.

At least he had the first step of the “plan” complete.

Ji Han suddenly stood up to go out.

Zhao Jian Gue hurriedly followed.

Ji Han shot him a cold look: “What are you following me for?”

Zhao Jian Gue: “You promised to take me back to the Sacred Sect.”

Ji Han asked: “At what point did I promise that.”

Zhao Jian Gue was stunned: “You clearly said-“

Ji Han interrupted: “I said if you dueled with me I’d take you back. Since the battle is scheduled for a year from now, come find me in a year and I’ll take you back to the sect.”

Zhao Jian Gue: “… …”

Oh great. This guy learned fast.

In that case, Zhao Jian Gue had no choice but to play the shameless card.

Zhao Jian Gue: “I said it before, you won’t shake me off.”

Ji Han coldly said: “I know.”

Zhao Jian Gue: “If you don’t take me back, I can also just follow you back.”

Ji Han pointed to the driver waiting outside the door. “What do you estimate his inner qi level to be?”

Zhao Jian Gue didn’t understand where he was going. He had noticed before that the driver was a hidden martial arts expert, someone with decades of experience, so naturally not deficient in inner qi.

Ji Han spoke: “He has 30 years of practiced inner qi; if he were to shout in the street, quite possibly half the town would be able to hear him.”

Zhao Jian Gue crossed his brows: “What are you saying this for?”

Ji Han said: “If you follow me one more step, I’ll immediately have him shout in the street.”

Zhao Jian Gue: “And what does that have to do with me?”

Ji Han: “He’ll shout ‘Zhao Jian Gue is a freaking homosexual’, what do you make of that?”

Zhao Jian Gue: “You-“

Ji Han: “I took a look just now, this town has a few people from the ‘Righteous’ side of the world.”

Zhao Jian Gue: “… …”

Ji Han icily said: “Hero Zhao, you are welcome to continue following me.”

Having said that, he stepped out of the doorway, his steps sharp but he portrayed in them complete satisfaction.

Zhao Jian Gue: “… …”

Okay.

So he knows how to play.

The idiom: [Entrusted for help from someone, until the end of time about them.]*

Is basically competing who is the most shameless -for the Hao Ran League, for the vast sense of justice in his heart, he was willing to be shameless this one time.

Zhao Jian Gue inhaled a deep breath, raised his heel and stepped forward.

Ji Han was shocked.

Zhao Jian Gue stated: “Though I haven’t trained for as long as him, my inner qi is definitely not deficient to his.”

Ji Han was slightly hesitant to ask: “What are you planning?”

Zhao Jian Gue: “If he were to shout, I will join him to shout a few fun things too.”

Ji Han: “What would you shout?”

Zhao Jian Gue: “Professing for your love.”

Ji Han: “… …”

The carriage driver continued covering his ears as he hid next to the horses, pretending like he couldn’t hear anything at all.

Ji Han angrily intoned: “You don’t dare to!”

Zhao Jian Gue: “You could try and find out.”

Ji Han: “… …”

Zhao Jian Gue: “Gossip tends to spread fast in the martial arts world.”

Ji Han: “… …”

Zhao Jian Gue: “And there tends to be people that like to add fuel to the fire.”

Ji Han: “… …”

Zhao Jian Gue: “Bashan Hero and The Two Heroes of Mobei originally didn’t have any connection; they merely united once to enjoy some liquor together. The Heroes of Mobei had poor alcohol-toleration and ended up sleeping in Bashan Hero’s bedroom for the night.”

Ji Han: “… …”

Zhao Jian Gue: “The next day someone spread the rumor that Bashan Hero arranged to drink with the Mobei Heroes because his goal was to purposely intoxicate the two.”

Ji Han: “… …”

Zhao Jian Gue: “Five days later another person spread that the point of intoxicating the two was to spend a night of passion with them.”

Ji Han: “… …”

Zhao Jian Gue: “Half a month later, this rumor changed into Bashan Hero having disreputable intentions -that the Two Mobei Heroes had feelings for Bashan but kept denying them–that the liquor was dosed with the Coupling Euphoric Sect’s coupling powder –that even the food was sprinkled with Qian Ji Wang Family’s anesthesia powder.”

Ji Han: “… …”

Zhao Jian Gue: “Those three were originally longtime best friends but now because of rumors they have all been labelled ‘together’.”

Ji Han: “… …”

Zhao Jian Gue sighed: “’Human speech is to be feared’.”*

Ji Han: “… …”

Zhao Jian Gue continued speaking: “It is said that those three actually live close to here, Bashan Hero also happens to be my longtime good friend-”

Ji Han: “SHUT UP.”

Zhao Jian Gue did shut his lips.

Even he was running out of lies to fabricate.

Sorry Bashan Hero, Mobei Heroes.

For the sake of the Hao Ran League, you guys will have to be sacrifices…

… …

The driver had already set up the carriage by now and was currently scrunched up next to the horse, wearily watching the two.

Ji Han coldly glared at Zhao Jian Gue.

Zhao kept his mouth closed, not talking.

Ji Han: “Get in the carriage, don’t say another word.”

10

Zhao Jian Gue was just about to step in the carriage.

 Ji Han: “Wait.”

Zhao Jian Gue turned around to look at him.

Ji Han coldly replied: “I don’t like warranting idle gossip from people. Since Hero Zhao’s qing going is so powerful, it’s probably better for you to run alongside the carriage.”

Zhao Jian Gue: “… …”

He could only stand by and watch Ji Han get into the carriage, gritting his own teeth.

… …

This was Zhao Jian Gue’s first time enjoying the scenery of the world from the roof of a carriage.

Chasing after a hackney was an incredibly exhausting feat -he did that obediently for the last half hour and then decided to just climb onto the roof, lifting up his robes to sit down, and no longer caring for any ‘respectable image’ of a hero.

What’s more, this demon was deliberately messing with him.

They had driven down this particular road’s path three times already. Only when possibly because the Demon Sect leader had exhausted himself fooling with him did the carriage stop and once more parked in that small town.

Zhao Jian Gue: “… …”

The horses were breathing heavily alongside their driver who had been sunned under the bright day into having a forehead of sweat.

Zhao Jian Gue’s white robes no longer looked that white -hair no longer that neat.

Yet Ji Han comfortably strolled out of the carriage, hand holding an elegant foldable fan.

Zhao Jian Gue was slightly irritated.

He forcibly suppressed the anger in his own chest, asking Ji Han: “Why have we come back here again?”

Ji Han answered: “I suddenly realized I haven’t eaten yet.”

Zhao Jian Gue: “… …”

Very good. Overtly trolling him.

… …

Employees of the establishment saw the same people stepping in again and were quite surprised.

Ji Han ordered the same side dishes and liquor as before.

Zhao Jian Gue coldly sat next to him.

He didn’t even have time to take a sip of water before someone rushed into the inn.

That person stopped at their table, appearance full of anxiety: “Brother Zhao, you have to quickly leave!”

This person just happened to be Bashan Hero, Jin Bei Guo.

Zhao Jian Gue couldn’t help being stunned.

He just finished speaking badly about Bashan Hero, so inevitably there was some guilt in his heart –especially since none of those things had ever actually occurred. It was only because Bashan Hero was his good friend, and that was the first name to come to his mind –so he casually said it.

Ji Han scrunched his brows at Ji Bei Guo and asked, “Who are you?”

Jin Bei Guo seemed to not have enough time to answer the question, speaking: “The Hao Ran League said you killed the leader’s head disciple, currently a mass of people are looking for your location, just now someone said they saw you at this inn and lots of people are hurrying over.”

Zhao Jian Gue: “… …”

This was another portion of the plan the elders had mentioned to him, in order to make this plot look all the more real.

Ji Han was quite displeased at Jin Bei Guo for ignoring him. He couldn’t resist asking once again: “Who are you, what do you want?”

Jin Bei Guo had no choice but to answer him: “Humbly, I am Jin Bei Guo.”

Ji Han’s expression suddenly became slightly enigmatic: “Bashan Hero, Jin Bei Guo?”

Jin Bei Guo replied: “Yes, that is humbly me, may I ask who this young hero is….”

Jin Han’s gaze became strange.

Zhao Jian Gue felt quite guilt and moved his gaze away.

Ji Han asked another question: “Where are the Two Heroes of Mobei?”

Jin Bei Guo froze: “The young hero here is familiar with them? Not to hide anything from this young hero, those two brothers are indeed travelling with me, I instructed them to wait outside of the inn, in the case of anyone from the ‘Righteous’ Sects showing up –we can easily inform Brother Zhao to escape in time.”

Ji Han looked out of the window to see two people in their 20s keeping watch out there; the two had practically identical appearances –with hints of Middle Eastern descent: their eyes, hair, and face were slightly different from those of the Central Plains.

Ji Han turned his head and looked back at Bashan Hero, his expression becoming even stranger.

Jin Bei Guo didn’t understand the reason for this and so he pulled Zhao Jian Gue’s sleeve, asking: “Brother Zhao, why does that young hero keep looking at me with that odd gaze?”

Zhao Jian Gue could only dryly chuckle once, intoning: “That…uh…I’m not sure either.”
